Pros

The nature of the work is very satisfying. The relationships with the patients and families is why I became a nurse in the first place, especially a hospice nurse.

Cons

Horrible hours, incessant demands by managers to take on more patients. Being told "I'm weak", because I can't work my regular shift after seeing patients most of the night from 4:30pm to 8:00am the next day. When I was told that I could quit if I didn't like how they did things, I did and found a great job at another hospice, where I've been the last 2 years. Same job, same workload (it's hospice!), but in a corporate atmosphere that recognizes hard work and dedication. Just being told "thank you" is what most of us need when we've had a tough week.

Pros

Great coworkers, was able to really help people

Cons

Care dimensions has gotten “too big for its britches” - words from a nurse at a doctors office. Unreasonably High caseloads, overworked, paid 40 hours when working 50-60 hours, no room for growth within company

We are constantly monitoring caseloads, which due to the nature of hospice, fluctuate daily. Care Dimensions has supported caseloads with our LPN/RN model, which pairs RNs and LPNs on the same cases. We take seriously our commitment to serve all patients who need our care, as well as provide a good work environment and work/life balance for our staff. We offer generous paid time off, flexible schedules, hybrid work schedules and employee time to volunteer. As such, we are constantly recruiting new staff, augmenting our benefits program, offering multiple employee wellness programs, and soliciting input from staff on ways to improve. In addition, we are proud of our tuition programs that support employee growth (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eYy5BKAqO0I) and our dedication to nurture staff and promote from within.
