I enjoy the flexibility at Care Options for Kids which creates a work life balance. The pay is excellent compared to most hospitals and facilities.

Cons

The PTO time is low (only 40 hours a year) Obtaining another case for a full in when my patients are hospitalized or on vacation is hard forcing me to use my PTO time or not get paid at all.

1. Office staff is accessible without long hold times with dreadful hold music. 2. Training is available whenever you need a refresher. 3. Quality is emphasized more than anything else. 4. Documentation is straightforward 5. At least at the office that I am contracted out of I feel heard regarding my issues. 6. They pay better than the hospitals. 7. If you are flexible they will be flexible too.

Cons

1. Paperwork for your shift is due that day and you cannot check in for another shift until that paperwork is complete. 2. Some items of the paperwork is repeated needlessly. (There is a reason for it but still annoying) 3. If you work nights, Saturday to Sunday; the pay week ends on Saturday at midnight so the Sunday hours won’t be counted in your pay. It will be added to the following week’s pay.

Lied about my initial pay rate and hours, then cut my pay by another $5/hr with no notice

Less chaos than bedside hospital nursing

Cons

I was told my rate at hire was $40/hr. This later changed to $38/hr, which i was willing to put up with. Scheduling also promised 36 hours per week but this was cut down to 33 hours/week. 5 months in, I got a call that my pay was decreasing by $5/hr effective immediately. Since the company is still hiring aggressively, my guess is they bait and switch with your hourly rate in the hope some nurses don't leave after pay cuts.
