Pros

People who work at Cargill are often kind, reasonable, salt-of-the-earth humans.

Cons

There is a ton of complacency with "the way things have always been". Very difficult to make true change even when everyone recognizes it's necessary. The complete autonomy across business units means that there are no similar processes or ways of working, no clear path for talent through the organization. Cargill employees often say they stay for the culture, but because so many of them have been there for 10-20 years, they don't have any real source of comparison.

Benefits and BERGS are very important

Cons

No one really cares about your success. I was given no support by my lead when being harassed by my location supervisor. Was hired for CSR and harassed when my direct boss quit after a new manager was hired. I was literally bullied by the new hire for the next 3 1/2 years until I quit.

Very stable because of large and diverse business portfolio, great benefits (BCBS insurance, relo assistance, per diem when traveling, etc.), lots of internal lateral opportunity, opportunities for training and quick advancement

Cons

Can be stressful to work in fast-pace production environment, lots of very mediocre middle managers, things move slowly sometimes due to corporate red tape, you feel like a number
