Pros

Carnegie Dartlet is a good place to work to gain concrete hard skills in digital marketing. If you’re just starting out, or you’re passionate about higher education marketing, this agency is a good place to learn skills. The people who work here are all friendly (for the most part). And the company does try hard to maintain the family atmosphere from when it was a small company of less than 100 employees.

Cons

Pay is low, especially for lower level, less experienced staff. Promotions are given out but are mostly meaningless (title without added autonomy or responsibilities). There is a core cohort of people who joined the company at the right time and were given positions in upper management (of the digital team). Everyone else hits a glass ceiling below them. Yet these managers had no previous management experience and as such, a lot is overlooked and there is a lot of mismanagement. Upper management is either completely unaware of the toxicity at the lower level, or willfully ignorant. Innovative ideas are often met with a “no” first. Managers don’t advocate for their teams. In general, there is too much ego and not enough willingness to ask, “how can we be better?” Also, the higher education industry is not up-to-date with most digital trends which can limit the amount of innovation possible even by effective teams. There are also some goings on across the company which would be HR nightmares if the company had HR. Little to no inclusion or diversity. CEO making inappropriate comments to female staff. By the end I felt that I had no one I could talk to about my grievances. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend accepting a job at Carnegie Dartlet unless you live in the Westford area and want to learn digital marketing skills before jumping to a better gig.

I have worked at Carnegie Dartlet for 6 years as their VP, Finance and HR. Carnegie Dartlet is proud to have a culture of trust and communication within our teams.Managers have an open door policy where open communication, feedback, and discussion is encouraged. The Human Resource department is an additional resource for support to all our employees.

Pros

I can't say enough good things about Carnegie Dartlet. As someone who moved to Boston knowing nobody, the people at this company became my family. I never dreaded going to work. In fact, I looked forward to it every day. No idea is a bad idea at this company. They are the definition of open-door policy; I never feared speaking up as upper management encourages you to reach out to them with ideas, feedback, or simply to have a conversation. There is so much room for growth at Carnegie! I saw so many of my peers get promoted, and they are always well deserved. If you stay with the company, there is no doubt you will rise up. I felt a strong sense of belonging at Carnegie Dartlet. Give them your best and you'll get it right back. The only reason I left this company is because of my location / commute, and my last day was one of the hardest of my life! I still miss my job, this company, and the people who work there. If things were different, I would go back in a second. If you get offered a job at Carnegie Dartlet, consider yourself super lucky; you're in good hands.

Cons

No office in Boston. Open one pleaseeee!!!
