Pros

-Nice location, garage parking -New section of office space (the only section they show in the pictures... the majority is standard cubicles)

Cons

Where to start? Aside from a core group of veterans, there is a high amount of employee turnover. Lots of office politics and low morale. The company has grown over the last few years, but is still managed and budgeted like a struggling start-up. The attitude at the company is that the sky is perpetually falling. Very stressful work environment. Due to the uncertainty of winning contracts, Carney is chronically understaffed trying to meet deadlines or win contracts. Employees are expected to work overtime and be in constant contact with the office. Upper management frequently mismanages budget (for example, there is no hesitation buying themselves new iPhones/iPads each release), but they refuse to invest in their most important resource - the employees. There is not much room for growth, and training opportunities are rare. Suggestions for innovation and process improvements are generally ignored.

Pros

Most people are smart and friendly. Good Old Town location if you prefer to drive and not metro (a mile from metro close to city hall). Pay is decent.

Cons

In business for 20 years but still runs with the uncertainty and lack of process of a start-up. A lot of rework. CEO treats the place as a hobby not a business.

Pros

Old Town Alexandria is a nice area

Cons

- Disconnected upper management - Very low employee morale, they profess company values, but employees see very little in action. - Management believes Carney's work is so much better than others. It isn't. - Unstable work environment, frequent and unusual layoffs and firing. - They try to present an atmosphere of transparency, but twist facts to favor the company. For example, turnover figures. Higher than average, yet they only include voluntary resignations, etc. - The photos you see on this site are of the newest office areas,...they are selling the company. And have clearly written some of the reviews as well. - Claims to be cutting edge, but resists telecommuting. - Open positions aren't announced, people are generally appointed to new positions rather than competed internally. - Misplaced emphasis - facing sequestration, etc, rather than work smartly, the company installed iPads on all meeting rooms for reservations (which generally didn't work), Apple TVs in the conference areas (standard projection would have been fine), and gave management the newest iPads and iPhones.
