Pros

- Fresh produce was incredible, and beautiful flowers - Scheduling posted regularly and clearly - Small employee discount on some goods - Provides partial uniform

Cons

- Owners are literally known for being homophobic/anti LGBTQ. Came up as a joke once when discussing corn maze designs. - Front end leadership is full of people who enjoy belittling cashiers. Did not matter how hard/fast you worked, they went out of their way to target you. - No fraternization with the men. During my hiring only "women" (i.e. anyone they perceived as cis women) were hired as cashiers, and you'd be threatened with write ups if you spoke to the men working on loading cars with bulk bagged product. Did not matter if it was slow/no customers/work caught up. - They do not allow any visible tattoos if you work facing the public. You'd have to wear long-sleeved shirts or "golf sleeves" that you could pull on to cover any and all ink. Did not matter if it was sweltering hot, they were to stay completely covered. Several employees dealt with this. - No visible facial piercings (yes including nose rings/studs!) - No "unnatural" hair colors - Didn't allow cashiers to wear anything but long pants even during peak summer season. It was often a running joke on where to best find breathable long clothing. Solutions beyond this included "wet towels on the neck, ice packs to bring and lots of water." - GOSSIPY. It was literally inescapable, staff would constantly talk about each other behind everyone's backs. Even while trying to stay out of it as much as one could, you would get pulled in simply because you were trying to listen/support people you thought were friends. Large reason for leaving. - Management/leadership had clear favorites for cashiers, and would actively single out less-liked cashiers. - "if you have time to lean, you have time to clean!" is something you'll hear daily. - Technology during my employment was outdated. Card readers constantly breaking with management refusing to update equipment. One of the oldest POS systems I have worked on at the time. Punch cards were physical paper you wrote in/out on which I wasn't personally comfortable with. Would have preferred clocking in online or digitally. - There is no down time. Even if quiet and chores caught up, leadership would send you home if you weren't walking around sweeping/dusting constantly. - One particular lead would constantly overstep physical boundaries. Big shoulder rubber, wanting to hug, even kissed a coworker on the cheek and was extremely uncomfortable. Especially disappointing because it was a woman lead doing this behavior. - Expected employees to somehow magically memorize ALL produce codes sold in shop during stand season, yet did not allow time to study for this "test" while at work beyond an occasional few minutes between customers. Absolutely expected staff to work off the clock at home to memorize produce codes. If you didn't pass the test... good luck! This was on top of numerous codes constantly changing for floral/dry goods/decoration purchases as well. - How they treated migrant workers was literally appalling to listen to. Extremely microaggressive and borderline blatantly racist. Also did not have really any staff fluent in Spanish to work with said workers. - Felt a noticeable difference in treatment between coworkers based on identity/diversity. - Once was 2 minutes late and was told I had to wait until ten minutes post shift start time to clock in as punishment for being late. Not even sure if that is allowed! - Was often stressed that the owners enjoyed "quizzing" cashiers on knowledge about codes, to prioritize any requests they made regardless of what you're tasked with. Caused a lot of unnecessary stress.

Pros

This company has been around for decades and has a solid reputation in the ag industry! This is a stable company, and it's family owned and operated so there’s a more personal feel; the leadership genuinely cares about employees and puts forth efforts to recognize hard working dedicated employees that care -- hard working employees are recognized. The dedication and longevity of employees speak volumes about the strength of this company and its leadership. Leadership has an open-door policy, they're willing to listen to ideas for improvement and efficiencies; the company has been working to modernize and improve processes where it makes sense. This is a great place to grow if you’re willing to take on different responsibilities and learn new skills.

Cons

Heavy phone calls from customers during our peak seasons: it’s important to have the personal touch of having “live” operator for our customers over the phone, but it can sometimes be demanding on staff--- but everyone helps out so that's great! Even the owners jump on the phone to help out! Workloads can get busy and a bit unpredictable depending on the season, but co-workers jump in and help out.

Pros

Fast-paced environment, opportunity to grow and learn. Great team and co-workers. Exposure to lots of different challenges

Cons

It can get very busy both in and outside of the office. Smaller working team, so you may have to wear a lot of hats.
