Worked here in a long time ago, gave me major depression

Pros

Sorry I got nothing good

Cons

I worked here a long time ago after moving to Austin. I was constantly feeling like no matter what I did here, I was going to be punished for it. Once I even got in trouble for "losing" one of the partner's sunglasses while they were sitting on his head. It would have been comical if I wasn't terrified of him. Was hired entry level with a non-accounting degree but then they were angry when I didn’t know much accounting. I told them in the interview I did *not* have a CPA and exactly what my qualifications were. I was hired around a big snowstorm in December and they docked my pay during the 3 days the office was closed for ice as well as docked me for all the holiday time the office was closed in Dec and early Jan. They made me quit my second job, which I honestly desperately needed as I just moved here without any money and they offered no insurance for the first 90 days. Instead of admitting it was a bad fit or helping me get trained, they made it about me being a bad person, which is unnecessary and unprofessional. When I was fired, the boss said something to the effect of me being a worthless person. It just felt like an extra kick while I as down. Plus I didn’t have the second job to help recover from. Ended up constantly selling blood and plasma anywhere I could, etc and after not finding a job for months afterwards, I became extremely depressed for a good amount of time.

Think Hard....

Pros

Exposure to many different facets of working at a CPA firm. Offices, not cubes. Drinks and snacks. In house CPE. Dinners during busy season.

Cons

Low pay. Recent high turnover. There is a distinct line between the people that have worked there before the CRI merger and those that came on board after the merger. There are some very difficult people to work with there. Strict schedule during busy season.

Too much politics and mind games for an office.

Pros

It's hard to find a positive when 6 people that made that place great quit at the same time. They have a koi pond.

Cons

***Micromanaging, duplicate procedure which kill efficiency, lack of advancement opportunities, partners kill morale*** To keep it professional, this isn't a place you want to go after you have experienced a proper professional work atmosphere. This place isn’t bad until you start realizing the politics and mind games behind everything. Staff works well together, but the partners do not work well with each other. Partners and managers trying to make each other look bad. The partners are condescending and will treat your according to their mood that day. If they have had a bad day they will take it out on the staff. The partner’s know what the problems are, but they refuse to change their ways and continue to ignore themselves as the problem. They treat their admin staff like their maids and are completely unprofessional. There's a huge ego problem for those who have been there before the merger. Advancement is limited to none after supervising senior and the partners have made it very clear that they have no plans in retiring soon. In that office they have short term goals and that’s to have their employees crank out as much work as possible with minimal pay. The benefits do not compare to other firms in the area or other firms in public accounting. If various staff leave every couple of years , some who have been there for years, you should identify the problem and fix it. When 6 people leave you at once you are not addressing the issue and you are probably the problem. I think the fact that so many people have left says enough. I wouldn't recommend this office to anyone that is bright, talented, with a family, or any person from other CRI offices looking to transfer here.
