Pros

Benefits and salary, location, potentially exciting space. Some employees honestly believe in what the company is supposed to be doing. Executives do a great job of making employees think things are on the right path.

Cons

Unapologetically disorganized - 12 month roadmaps don't mean anything. Too focus on sales - our users regular tell us what's wrong and we won't fix it. These overly positive reviews - as someone who works there and haven't bought into the culture, I can tell you these reviews were "encouraged" by HR and managers. Inexperienced staff - CLH is a lot of people's first job out of college so they have no idea how a company should be run.

Pros

Hands down, the best thing about Castlight is the people. Most people that work here are beautiful human beings -- not only are they extremely great at what they do, they are also truly caring and genuine. On top of that, people enjoy being around one another, which makes the very often challenging work fun to tackle. There are smiles and laughters all around the office all day long. The company has a fantastic culture that it tries very hard to maintain during the hyper growth -- it's upbeat, fun, positive, family-oriented, non-judgmental, supportive, and downright genuine. The work is very challenging but extremely meaningful. We truly believe we can and will change healthcare -- there is nothing easy about that!

Cons

This is definitely not a 9-5 job. Many people work nights and weekends, but we have fun doing it. The company has extremely flexible hours as long as you do your work. Keep in mind that this is a SaaS company after all -- not a typical consumer web company. Castlight is undergoing "growing pains" as it rapidly expands. There is far less structure than mature companies (which can be frustrating to people who are used to having answers) and far more processes than startups (which can be frustrating to people who want to move fast). Communication is suboptimal sometimes. These types of challenges are nothing new to companies in the phase we're in. The salary isn't as competitive as many other bay area companies, but the company does have a generous equity program and does reward employees based on performance.

Pros

Good salary and benefits, passionate employees, great location.

Cons

No vision, don't care about the users, and have evolved into an HMO for their customers. Random and silent layoffs. No opportunity for advancement if you're not in sales or business development. Degree snobs with a lot of PHDs but zero work experience. I'm not sure how there are so many "no cons" reviews since no one was happy at that place, and what was once a darling in the healthcare space is now, not even an "also-ran." They lost their mojo about a year ago.
