Pros

Castlight as a company truly values employees and earnestly lives by the values they instill in us. Benefits and compensation are competitive with the technology sector, which is to say generous. There is plenty of opportunity for career development, taking on projects outside of our day-to-day responsibilities. Most importantly, I've never worked with such an impressive collection of people, and am regularly delighted and impressed by the expertise and genuine concern of those I spend my weekday daytimes with.

Cons

US healthcare has no shortage of problems that we're tackling. Sometimes, this can feel overwhelming. I regularly find myself working outside of normal business hours, but to be fair, and no one is monitoring us to ensure we're at our desks M–F 9–5. What I mean is that we've all got a job to do, and we're evaluated on the output of our work rather than where and when we actually do the work.

Pros

I have worked a couple of different positions within the company and I have enjoyed each position immensely mainly because of the people I work with and my managers. I have never felt micro managed and I truly feel as though my voice, views and ideas matter. The company has a genuine family feel from top down and I come into work excited to see my co-workers. People really care about each other here. The benefits package is also the best benefits package I have ever had and I have worked for many different companies.

Cons

The company is constantly changing and growing which keeps a person on their toes. It is great for people who have more of a self-starter mentality and like an atmosphere where they can dip their feet into many different aspects of the business. I would say it is not so great for people who prefer an environment where the processes and day to day life are fixed and they know exactly what is expected of them each day.

Pros

I signed with Castlight without knowing much about the company or product (I do not have an HR or health care background). WHAT A PLEASANT SURPRISE! The more I learn about the company the more excited I am that I jumped in. 1) THE PEOPLE at Castlight are incredibly sharp and dynamic team players. Everyone is hard working and focused -- great, unselfish, wicked smart culture. 2) THE PRODUCT is amazing. Truly a disruptive product, making it a challenging sale and an uphill journey at some points, but Castlight's product team is the most visionary and innovative in the enterprise health care space, hands down. 3) THE VISION of Castlight-- to change healthcare, to fix a profoundly broken system, to allow people to become educated consumers and save them from financial peril associated with injury and illness, to allow benefits managers to take the best possible care of their employees -- is a noble cause, to say the least.

Cons

I am so excited about my job that I spend all my time reading and working. This will likely have a negative effect on my social life. Castlight encourages a work/life balance, mine is a self inflicted imbalance.
