Pros

Benefits, laziness, talk your way to get promoted.

Cons

Most anti-immigrant company. Old-white boys company. Boasts about diversity etc, but thats all fake. If you are an immigrant you cannot even apply for internal jobs in different business unit. There is clause even on internal job site saying that if you need sponsorship donot apply. Why to put such clause even for internal moves...Are you not Cat employee first???..One end the CEO is going to washington to talk about immigration reform and his own company is the most anti-immigration company ever. No company would put clause of no sponsorship for internal moves. The immigration attorney and his team is the worst every attorney.

Pros

Std salary with std befits,

Cons

CAT is spread out too much that sometime 3~4 people work on same thing. too much of middle management layers. CAT has started standard practice of layoff in last few yr to look good on balance sheet. Employees are given layoff to meet commitment to share holders. If you are joining CAT be aware of this situation.

Pros

There are no good reasons to work at Caterpillar anymore.

Cons

It was a challenge to go to work every day. Things were not good. We were watched by salaried employees constantly. We wouldn't dare to stop working for fear of being discharged. They took our future away from us. No raises for 6 years, no pension, now there is only 401K. They downgraded as many opeople as they could then laid a bunch of them off. Everyone wishes they could work some where else, but don't want to give up their tenure. They also took the Bidding for jobs away from us. Instead they just appointed people to positions. The moral of the employees in the shop is at an all time low. They want the middle class to go away.
