Pros

Pay and benefits are decent, co-workers are amazing, cohesive work environment with regards to Clinical staff. For the most part, quality Nursing Staff

Cons

Upper Management has no value for employees, and are not even shy about that. Nurses and Middle Management leave in droves. "Revolving Door" environment. In the "dark ages" with regard to medical practices; the Nurses have to work "hard" to get the job done since Medical Staff don't provide the necessary "tools" to do the job better. Patient care is excellent, thanks to the Nurses, but the hospital is notorious for running the floors/units "short" with little regard, if any, for patient safety. This place desperately needs a Union.

Pros

My co-workers. Family is always first. They are genuinely concerned regarding your and your family's well being.

Cons

Constant push to see more patients - increase our productivity. This leads to a decline in patient care. You can see the stress within and between departments, again, this leads to a decrease in patient care. Supposedly, we are all on the same team and have our patients' best interest at heart. Our direct supervisors see this, and are wonderful. Yet, as you climb the 'management' ladders, they seem to forget the reason we all went into healthcare..... to help and care....

Pros

Good healthcare . Some units allow you to self schedule.

Cons

Mercy Hospital wanted to transfer me back from corporate office to ICU at a grade 4 and 4 dollars more than a new nurse hire. I was in their icu for15 years. That base rate would have been about $7.00 less then when I had to go out on comp for surgery. I was heartbroken.
