Pros

Really great coworkers. Pay seems fair. Until now, felt like a good stable public company (until recent layoffs!)

Cons

Culture has completely shifted to one of fear. The more they talk about being transparent, the less transparency we feel. Extremely toxic and hostile environment. Gender inequality is apparent.

Pros

The pay and benefits packages are relatively competitive for the local market. The Kansas City-based technology leadership team is highly supportive, competent, and possesses a clear understanding of operational requirements.

Cons

Upon taking office over a year ago, the new CEO criticized prior management and claimed the organization lacked a cohesive strategy. However, after more than a year under his tenure, no meaningful alternative strategy has been successfully implemented, effectively maintaining the previous status quo. Morale has severely declined due to recent executive decisions. A substantial workforce reduction was executed with minimal operational planning, leaving multiple departments understaffed and unable to sustain daily baseline functions. Additionally, career advancements and promotions have been indefinitely paused under vague commitments to reinstate them later. Newly appointed leadership has heavily mandated the integration of AI to automate and replace existing roles. Despite thousands of hours dedicated to testing and experimentation, these technologies have yet to demonstrate viable success in most functional areas.

Pros

Some really nice colleagues and good benefits and perks.

Cons

The past 18 months have been a case study in questionable governance and leadership dysfunction. There has been a complete breakdown of trust and zero accountability. The executive team has undergone significant change and turnover (CEO, President, COO, EVPs of all three business lines, CHRO, CRO) with little transparency throughout. Hierarchies have become even more loyalty and proximity based instead of merit based. Senior management is myopic about certain things but unfocused when it comes to strategy and business drivers. On top of that, there is a significant level of complacency baked in many teams across the organization. Even through the recent cost cutting moves, high levels of complacency remain. Yet teams that actually execute for the business are not getting rewarded. Company performance is currently getting bailed out by the casino-ification of everything, and is not very reflective of decision making or execution. Would not recommend working here unless you thrive in corporate hierarchies where you’re not allowed to have an opinion unless you’re buddy buddy with certain management.
