Pros

It's a job and it beats unemployment ever so slightly.

Cons

Low pay, zero advancement potential (unless you are female and the Sales Director likes you), managers are always MIA, mean-spirited corporate culture, woke fest, anti-male, more concerned with profits than paying a living wage to employees, courses target poor and uneducated, financing of courses up to 30% interest rates. You feel like an indentured servant working here and the churn-and-burn rate is VERY high. You are set-up for failure.

In my 15 years at Cengage, I find that it has truly been a family experience. We have had ups and downs, but through it all it's the people, the supportive environment, the positive work culture, and more that has kept me around for so long

Cons

I do wish my salary could be higher, but it is comparable to others in similar positions in the educational technology industry.

-Open and transparent culture: CEO has an open townhall every Friday and answers all Slack messages from employees, but you can also DM them directly -Great work life balance and flexibility: you can work remotely and I've rarely worked late nights -Mission driven: everyone genuinely cares about the learners and puts them first

Cons

-Compensation isn't as high as other industries but you actually feel good about the work you do
