Dollar is god

Pros

The people at the top reap great rewards.

Cons

The focus in the last few years has been reducing costs because that is how the compensation is structured for shareholders and upper management, even though the billionaire at the top don't need it since he is old and can’t even spend all that he currently has. This translates into staff pay that is not competitive, hiring freeze, more work for everyone else. The customers will suffer when there is not enough people to fix their power after a storm. It will also take longer to add electricity to support a growing city.

Over worked, under paid

Pros

People are leaving in droves. CEO repeats that this is a good thing. It opens up opportunities for people.

Cons

People are leaving in droves. CEO does not say that he has been cutting, so experienced people with a lot of knowledge are leaving for much better pay and work-life balance in other companies. This results in all the work being dumped on those who remain. Then lesser life, even more work, higher stress, low pay accelerates their departure. The replacements are cheaper labor who do not know what to do, and there is nobody to train them. Basically, it is replacing good people with anyone who is desperate enough to accept a low offer.
