Pros

Coworkers are generally nice people. They do provide lunch once a week. Certain work parties could be fun.

Cons

Centerfield is a business that runs on dishonesty. The hiring process was completely misleading; they lied about the existence of a commission structure, which took over 6 months to even create, and they lied about PTO and benefits. They framed the role as "consultative sales" when in reality it is just a call center job. Even after half a year, the business model was barely explained, and I had no idea how the company was performing or what the other offices in LA or Jamaica were even doing. Management relies heavily on ChatGPT for basic functions to the point where our entire job's sales process felt like it was a ChatGPT prompt. The irony is that ChatGPT is banned on our computers, yet leadership still leans heavily into it. The environment is overly secretive and the lead-generation tactics border on harassment, which is mentally draining for staff. The local office culture is heavily influenced by a small leadership team where all the power sits with one senior leader. They practice blatant favoritism, gossip about subordinates, and encourage a culture where you shouldn't ask questions. There is blatant drug use and alcohol abuse going on in the workspace that leadership ignores. Even worse, there is blatant racism from certain managers toward the team in Jamaica—they talk about them in derogatory ways, and senior leaders make racist remarks and "joke" accents in the kitchen for anyone to hear. Many HR violations go unreported because people fear retaliation. For example, a holiday party featured wildly inappropriate games (one involved passing candy canes back and forth with our mouths) that felt like "rush week" at a frat; despite employees saying it made them uncomfortable, no apology or accountability was ever taken. Day-to-day management is just as bad. Leadership shows up late and leaves early but expects you to stay chained to your desk for 9 hours. They have flexibility with WFH days, but if a subordinate is sick and wants to swap a day, they force you to use PTO. The management—some of whom have no sales or office management experience—randomly re-assigns seats with zero notice and spends time monitoring sales calls just to report you for minor mistakes. The general vibe is unprofessional; people wear tracksuits, basketball shorts, and even mesh tops to work. There is no career mapping, coaching, or performance reviews. They favor workers who don't ask questions or use critical thinking. If you suggest a better way to do something, like an industry-standard sales tool, you are ignored. Finally, they reserve the right to change your job at any moment. My team’s entire role was changed to meet revenue goals without any notice or timeframe of when our actual jobs would resume.

Pros

Centerfield offers a fantastic environment for anyone who is goal-driven and loves a fast-paced, innovative setting. The leadership team is top-notch—they are accessible, transparent, and genuinely invested in the company's trajectory. What sets us apart is our willingness to innovate and pivot based on data; we aren't afraid to test new ideas to improve our processes. It's rare to find a company that balances aggressive growth goals with such a strong focus on maintaining a premium brand and carrier reputation.

Cons

I do not have any cons at this time.

Thank you for taking the time to write this - and for calling out the pace, the people, and the way we stay open to testing new ideas. I also really like your “what’s slowing you down” question; that’s the kind of simple check-in that helps us fix friction fast and keep improving.
