Pros

Centerfield is great environment for highly passionate individuals who are hungry to learn and grow. It is also an ideal place for seasoned tech experts who want to contribute to a growing tech stack and work alongside talented engineers. I have been fortunate to be on both sides during my time at Centerfield and would like to share my experience. I started as Sr. Software Engineer few years ago looking to learn and be part of team where I could make impact. During my first couple of years, I was constantly challenged and motivated to grow and learn. Fast forward a couple of years, I was rewarded with a promotion and given opportunity to manage a team of talented engineers. The upper management team has an open door policy and try to be accessible for every employee in the company, which is unusual for a company this size. They are very transparent and genuinely invest in talented employees and set them up for success by guiding, mentoring and providing additional training when necessary. Recently they brought in a leadership consultant that is conducting an 8 week training program for the middle management team out of the Los Angeles office. Centerfield also was rewarded a Best Places to Work in Los Angeles for 5 years in a row. You are nominated and awarded directly based on employee feedback collected through an anonymous survey. Does this sound like a company with poor culture?

Cons

Centerfield recently acquired a call center company and went from 70+ to 1200+ corporate employees and with that there are growing pains. When you grow that quickly overnight there are always things that don’t go well. There isn’t great communication between offices and management can be better about explaining the value of each product we are working on and how they align with the long-term vision of the company. Also we can better plan for projects so we don’t have to scramble so much as we approach deadlines. The management team is aware of these issues and is trying to solve them.

Thank you for sharing such a thoughtful review and for the impact you’ve had at Centerfield over the years. We’re glad the culture of learning and growth, the chance to take on meaningful challenges, and the opportunity to develop as both an engineer and a people leader have stood out in your experience. We also appreciate the candid feedback on cross-office communication, clearer product context, and planning as we’ve scaled quickly, and we’ll keep focusing on alignment and execution so teams can collaborate effectively without last-minute scrambles.

Pros

Benefits, PTO, free snacks. That's about it.

Cons

Where do I start? Everyone feels overworked and underpaid, and I mean everyone. People are fleeing the company left right and center. All the good people left because they were smart and got out at the right time and everyone left there is stressed and miserable. There is serious lack of communication between teams. Tasks and projects get thrown around and assigned without context and with no available resources. Deadlines get cut in half all the time and your expected to work all night long and on weekends to get things done. It used to be a fun startup and now its another poorly run corporation with way too much bureaucracy. Management could care less about investing in their employees and try to cut corners at every possible turn even though they can afford to send their favorites on fun trips. They try to get you in with benefits and PTO but trust me its not worth it. There isn't a single person left who doesn't want to jump ship.

Pros

Cons

• Favortism • HR Department is horrible • Senior Management based in California listens to rumors from people to make determinations on who to fire or lay off • they just laid off 40+ key people in June • they rip off their sales agents when it comes to their commission • they spend unnecessary money sending unnecessary people on trips and then lay off all these people because of money, BS
