Pros

There has been a culture shift as of late that has really improved the feeling of autonomy and work ownership. You feel valuable to your team and to the company. Flexible schedules allow for work/life balance as well as fostering a trust between employee and employer.

Cons

Projects within the company sometimes fall in IT's lap without clear guidelines or parameters due to the role of a business analyst not being well defined or exist at all.

Great place to work!

Pros

Great place to work with opportunities to advance if you wish. Central encourages continued education and will pay for you to obtain many industry designations. If there is a skill you want to work on, Central will provide a way for you to gain experience in that area. If you work hard, it can definitely pay off here. The flextime offered by Central provides me with the flexibility to never have to miss any of my children's activities, and I do not have to use my vacation to have a quick doctor's visit. The home office is located in a rural community. I see that as an advantage for my family. Van Wert is a small town with a lot of nice things happening. You just have to get involved. There are larger towns within short driving distances, so I feel I get the best of both worlds. Central offers both a 401k and a pension.

Cons

More work at home opportunities from the Home Office would be nice.

Central is a Caring Community

Pros

Central Insurance Companies has a wide scope of career opportunities available. When you start working at Central, you join a large family that not only cares about the job you do, but also care about you personally. I also appreciate the numerous benefits the company has to offer. I have worked at Central 25 years and enjoy all the people I have met and had the opportunity to work with. Some of these individuals have become personal friends. Before working here at Central, I knew very little about insurance and what surprised me the most is how much insurance changes on a daily basis. This makes for a job that is never boring. Every day is different which makes for interesting days that go so quickly! However if you get bored, there is most probably another position in the company that would be a better fit for you.

Cons

Only con would be if you are an individual that is not able to work within structure. Central is very structured, however there is a reason for all guidelines which are needed at any large company. Everyone knows the expectations which leaves no questions.
