Where careers go to start or to die - pick your poison.
Pros
A free, medium-grade lunch (keep it under $8.00, you stubborn fella!!!) and really nice co-workers. You do learn a lot when you have access to brilliant minds and internal information. The massages are nice.
Cons
Metrics. If you are measured on your 24 hour closure rate for tickets and every customer says "keep the case open for a couple of days so we can monitor," well, there goes your 24 hour closure rate. Metrics are not used as a means to monitor customer activity and satisfaction, or to reward a good employee for a job well done - metrics are used as a tool to deny bonuses and raises and promotions. You are always treated like a juvenile, always needing supervision and grooming. I personally have a problem with the alcohol. We have a beer keg in the office and many have mini fridges under their desks with more. I understand that sometimes work, especially at Check Point, can get to you, but this can't be OSHA compliant. Maybe one day when someone gets killed leaving work there will be a policy change.
