Pros

ChenMed is the parent company of Jencare, the organization I represented. Positives were rewarding interactions with Seniors, who benefited from the type of care delivered. A good role for folks new to corporate sales to get some experience. Provides decent benefits.

Cons

Expect to be worked into the ground. This is a difficult, repetitive job. The limited insurance coverage accepted often exclude seniors who would like to take advantage of it. Organization trains you to present advantages to the care that they are sketchy in delivering on. They also celebrate MGC's (Membership Growth Consultants) that act unethically (folks who transfer seniors to the centers who either did not wish to be moved from their current care or did not fully understand what they were being engaged in). Leadership does not truly want to hear of ways to improve from folks in this role. They say otherwise, but if your communicate issues, they become abrasive. Additionally, management has major holes in supporting the teams and have engaged folks running the medical facilities to fill the gaps- presenting them as sales leaders, which is far outside their area of experience/ expertise. This led to extremely dysfunctional teams and poor moral at multiple locations.

Our Management Growth Consultant role is a challenging yet very rewarding role within ChenMed. The position requires a lot of self-initiative and discipline to help your reputation and relationships grow. Our leadership team has implemented new trainings and road shows to help MGCs build a strong foundation. In addition, we are working on an MCG preceptor program that will allow tenured team members to assist new hires and build leadership skills. Thank you for providing feedback that can help us continue to improve.

Pros

There are no pros to working for this company.

Cons

There is blind leadership from Florida. Their solution to not hitting sales goals in 2020 was to raise quotas in 2021. They provided I help with marketing materials or management support. If you had an issue with anything and you brought it to your sales manager they had no solution or help. I was excited to work here when I was hired and was quickly disappointed by management and by the company as a hole. They don’t pay our commissions and you spend most of your time trying to get paid for work you already did. I would not suggest this company to anyone.

ChenMed is built on a cornerstone of noble and compassionate service. We do recognize that working here will be one of the most challenging and rewarding for those who are passionate about our mission. Our Management Growth Consultants are crucial to helping rescue seniors. This role is considered sales and does ask our team members to hit sales targets. Part of our process is to clearly outline our commission structure within the interview, before onboarding and during orientation to ensure all are on the same page. Our teams are the heartbeat of ChenMed and we want to reward them for their hard work and commitment towards meeting and exceeding goals!

TOXIC WORK ENVIRONMENT

Business Outlook

Pros

Building relationships in Communities, networking, and helping seniors and work schedule.

Cons

They pay employees to put positive comments on GlassDoor. For example, who ever can put the best comment about ChenMed will get a $100 gift card. The upper management is Horrible, Toxic, and corrupt. They show favoritism. They ignore turnover. Turn over on the sales side is through the roof. Toxic work environment due to horrible management. The sales team is treated as high school students. They do not value their sales team at all, and they get rid of good talent. No matter how much you brought to the table, awards, patients, they only care about today. Your past efforts do not matter. You can receive an award today and fired tomorrow. Rarely do they advance their sales team to upper management on the business side because they hire outsiders that are not qualified to manage the sales team which leads to a toxic work environment. For years ChenMed and Jencare have Lost countless MDMs and MGCs. The compensation plan is built around things you can not control which affects your income. Micromanaging. Also, there is a Divide between management and Sales team. They change your job title a hundred times from Market Development Manager, Membership Development Manager to Membership Growth Consultant (same thing) and pay $40k salary instead of $70 salary. You market the business, you developed new business and you manage and train new employees on ride alongs. In order to fix the mess, get rid of upper management and replace them with actual experience in the field such as your Membership Growth Consultants and provide training for them.

ChenMed has never paid employees to submit reviews on Glassdoor or any other website. A few years ago, the company initiated a program called “Love What You Do”. It was based on patterns of positive feedback received on the company’s Speak Up employee survey where employees referenced their love and passion for the work they do, helping to transform healthcare for the neediest population; seniors in underserved communities. ChenMed was so inspired by this feedback, we encouraged employees to tell others about what they love and their experience with helping us drive our mission and to share their feedback. We ran a contest that provided for winning entries with a gift card as a thank you for taking the time to participate. We are proud of our sales team and the comprehensive training we provide them which consists of standardized training at our Home Office followed by customized training at the employees home market location. Our Sales Professionals are helping to rescue seniors every day and touch more lives in a positive way. ChenMed considers employee engagement and turnover a vital part of our success. We consistently seek feedback and the engagement of their employees as well as the turnover in their areas influence how we evaluate our leaders. We also have a dedicated Culture Team that helps shape a culture that encourages personal and professional growth, employee wellness, diversity & inclusion and the opportunity to help the company grow to touch the lives of even more seniors.
