There are many positive things about the company, but the bonus structure is unreasonable.

Pros

Chico's promotes constant coaching in order for people to learn and grow in the company. They want to promote from within. This is a win-win for everyone. There is opportunity for promotion and the company cuts down on turnover, which is costly.

Cons

The salaries are low and bonuses are high. It's great when you are making great sales, but you are always competing against those LY numbers. Sometimes you are planned so high a bonus is unachievable.. even though you are still producing good numbers, the money is not coming in. As a single woman, I found the peaks and valleys of the bonus structure to difficult to live with.

Retail can be bad, but Chico's is a relatively good place to work

Pros

Clientele is fairly loyal, the passport loyalty program helps with that and the staff at most levels are nice people to work with.

Cons

Promotions seem to go to those who have a personal friendship with regional and store managers, even if internal people may be better qualified for the job. Managers sometimes have to work crazy hours to compensate for reductions in available hours for part-time sales people, but this is probably not unique in retail.

Bonus structure is a large portion of mgmt pay if you make sales plan great if you don't it's difficult at times to survive on base.
