Pros

The people at chownow were nice. Never really ever had a negative interaction with anyone across the company.

Cons

For starters? Well you get laid off, chances of that happening are higher than you think. More so since it literally happens at least twice a year. To top it off, you can spend years working here and only get a paltry 2 weeks severance. There isn’t any actual direction at the company. Have you seen the app? There’s no restaurants, and the ones that are on the app, generally churn out pretty quickly. There’s no rhyme or reason to much of anything. How are you supposed to attract restaurants of your app has no basic QoL features? No easy way to search for items, no easy way to even find out what restaurants are near you. Oh gee I love using an app to order food that makes it hard for me to order food! To top it off, the actual backend technology is rudimentary at best. You can’t be quick at chownow. Everything is slow. There’s no tangible future at chownow. Partnerships? They fall apart A LOT. Product ideas? lol we put ads on stuff and call it a day. Oh and we also want to leverage AI TO DO STUFF! Steer clear. There is no future here. M

Pros

My immediate co-workers were great.

Cons

I know times are hard but the juice ins’t worth the squeeze. You’re gonna work really hard and it still won’t be good enough. You won’t make enough money to justify the stress. Then you’ll be burnt out on top of that. The team was understaffed and there was high turnover. I was treated as if I was not fast enough or working hard enough when all I did was work to meet their productivity goals. My mental health suffered and the managers couldn’t care less because they were there from the beginning and had to go through it and so did I. I constantly heard how we had it so much better than they had it when they worked my position and shouldn’t complain. They took no feedback. We brought up concerns and got shut down. I wanted to give feedback on the CEO that was there when I worked there but there’s already a new one. That’s really concerning. Half of one of the teams was laid off and their work was given to the Support team with no raise and already ridiculous monthly goals.

Great Culture… Until It Wasn’t

Pros

Work-life balance was one of the few consistent positives. I never felt pressured to work outside of normal hours. Early on, there were opportunities for growth, but mainly because I started in an entry-level role despite being overqualified. This gave me time to build relationships and figure out my career direction.

Cons

Leadership was constantly changing, which led to major disruptions. Every week felt unpredictable, and it was hard to stay productive when the direction kept shifting. The culture was amazing when I first joined, but with each round of layoffs, the people who made it special were let go. What remained was a team that felt unmotivated, overworked, and defeated. Growth opportunities dried up after a couple of early promotions. The trajectory became stagnant, making it hard to see a long-term future at the company.
