      Used to have a great, unique culture. Seems to be going down hill.

      Pros

      Prestige brand. Not many companies can claim to have been one of the two best companies at what it does for over 240 years. Great working environment and people in general. Good work/life balance, especially considering the norm in New York.

      Cons

      Because people do tend to stay for a long time, it tends to be a top heavy company (i.e., a lot of people in the management level). Because of this, decision-making can be slow, and advancement opportunities are very rare. Also, because of the prestige brand, the salaries are extremely low compared to similar roles elsewhere. These combine to create high turnover especially at the lower ranks, and lack of job satisfaction at the higher ranks.

      Pros

      If you're goal is to work in the art world, Christie's is a fantastic place to work. It's hard work but can be very fulfilling. Company loyalty is pretty strong. Many people stay for their entire career.

      Cons

      Christie's isn't known for paying much. If you don't work in a specialist group, it's not a great place to work. There isn't much in terms of professional development and opportunities can be limited.
