      Pros

      From a customer's standpoint it is a great insurance company - the customer comes first, if any doubt - their loss is covered. The benefit is always given to the insured. The benefits are very good; and depending on what office you work in - work/life balance is supported.

      Cons

      Because it is a good company to work for - people tend not to leave and that limits the opportunities for advancement. There are broad differences in working for the company depending on what department and/or what office you work in. Senior Management/Home Office needs to do a much better job at communicating in general and at communicating a vision for the company.

      Pros

      If you want to get your foot in the door of a large insurance company

      Cons

      Everything. Management that is against its employees and has the "gotcha in the act" attitude. Always micromanaging and not working as a team, rather looking for their own spotlight. Every time an email is sent out underwriters have to have every manager included on the email and if they forget someone then they are called into a managers' office and told how awful they are. Its the most negative environment I've ever experienced. If you have common sense and are intelligent, watch out. If you have drool running out of your mouth and a yes man kind of person then you are fine.
