Leadership Enables Toxic Behaviour

Pros

- Some really good projects coming from engineering - Engineers are really string who are bringing these ideas. - Push on using AI from parent market is helping Cirium to advance - Great Engineering managers, but sometimes it feels they have a lot of things in their plate.

Cons

- Toxic behavior becomes most damaging when its ignored by senior leadership. - In technology teams especially, the leaders always see issues developing in real time patterns, tension, and repeated concerns, but choose not to act. - Instead of addressing root causes, responsibility is pushed back onto Managers and Engineers. - Currently, this silence gives power to the wrong people and creates a culture where employees stay quiet to protect their jobs. The result is a lot of performance and very little accountability.

Thank you for sharing this feedback. We take concerns about toxic behaviour seriously, particularly when it is experienced as being ignored or enabled by leadership. At Cirium, creating a culture of belonging, psychological safety and respect is fundamental to how we expect our teams and leaders to operate. When people do not feel safe to raise concerns, or when issues are not addressed early and consistently, it undermines trust and damages both wellbeing and performance. We recognise that accountability for culture sits at every level, especially with those in positions of authority. Addressing harmful behaviour, rather than allowing it to become normalised, is essential to creating an environment where people can do their best work and feel valued. We regret that this was not your experience and that these issues contributed to your decision to leave. Feedback like this reinforces our commitment to listening, acting and strengthening our people, culture, and belonging practices across Cirium. Thank you for taking the time to share your perspective.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience and for recognising the culture that made Cirium a great place to work for you over many years. We also hear your reflections on the pace of growth. Scaling a business brings complexity, and when change moves quickly, it can place real pressure on teams. That’s why we’re working hard to ensure the change is accompanied by the right structure, clarity and support. Supporting teams through growth is a core leadership responsibility. We are clear that managers and leaders play a critical role in enabling their teams, providing clarity, planning effectively, staying close to workload and morale and ensuring people feel seen and supported through change. Investing in strong people leadership and team enablement is central to our focus on People, Culture & Belonging. Feedback like yours reinforces the importance of equipping leaders to lead change well, listening carefully to employee sentiment, and ensuring that loyalty, contribution and experience are reflected in how teams are supported day to day. Thank you for sharing your perspective.
