Pros

Breakfast provided once a month Free beer after 5pm Decent Benefits

Cons

I want to start off by saying I was a good employee there. I worked crazy hours and received good reviews and promotions. My reason for leaving was the terrible work environment created there rather than the work itself. It doesn't matter how smart or efficient you are, if you are not happy to do a huge amount of overtime you will not get promoted. They reward the people who stay until midnight. They refer to the busy times as "month end" which is supposed to occur during the first few days of the month, however for some teams this can last for 2-3 weeks. The turnover is unlike anything I have ever seen before. People quitting without having a new job and openly saying they would leave for a job paying less money. Every person I speak to who is still there is actively looking for a new job. Senior mgt often makes promises to reduce overtime. However as soon as they do they take on more work without hiring the staff first, putting the employees back in the position of being overworked again. I went through this cycle a few times when I was there so learned that they had no intention of lowering the workload. They don't give references other than to confirm dates employed. You need to get someone who has left the company to give you a reference or hope that your manager will give you one anyway.

Dear Former Colleague, Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on your work experience. Based on your comments, it sounds as though you gained valuable exposure to complex financial instruments and accounting skills from the work you did at Citco and were recognized for your top performance with a promotion. Each promotion is discussed and vetted across the management team to ensure consistency and transparency. It is important to ensure we have a fair and merit-based process in place as we need our best talent servicing our clients. The local senior management is aware of the overtime figures and continues to make it a key focus to achieve a sustainable work-life balance for our employees in 2017. The office has hired over 80 people year-to-date in an effort to balance resources vs. workload. These new resources need time for training and improving productivity so this is a work in progress, but I assure it is a top priority for all of us.

Pros

Possibility after several years experience to move internally to a new area, as long as your line manager agrees and you have never made a single mistake in your existing role. Annual summer and Xmas parties. Modernised office with fussball and pool tables, free beer/soft drinks/cereals.

Cons

Some horrendous middle management in Dublin office, often extremely difficult to deal with, who avoid communicating with lower staff grades at all costs (unless it is to criticise them). Most senior account managers are only interested in their own promotion and delight in telling staff every yearend that no pay raise or bonuses can be awarded. Often highly stressful monthends due to workload and lack of support of colleagues (they are too stretched to help). No in-house restaurant facility (just a seating area and microwaves/fridges), despite staff size.

Dear reviewer, I am compelled to respond to this review and to point out categorically that no one from HR has ever posted a "false review" on this site. The HR team are employees too and have their own experience of working at Citco. If a member of HR has posted, it is to express their own opinion under the same anonymity that you have preferred. With regard to your wider feedback, I note specifically your recommendation to conduct peer reviews. This is an interesting concept that could provide a very meaningful feedback and learning mechanism. It is certainly a recommendation to which we can give consideration.

Pros

Beer in the fridge after 5, people at team level are nice to work with, I like my manager.

Cons

Long hours of overtime, no work life balance at all so you work hours of OT with no warning and culture means you have to stay, promises/big statements that never happen. You are expected to do the same thing forever with no room for growth and there’s not enough people working on clients so it is always stressful. Repetitive work with no challenges or career development. There was an employee survey last summer, still no changes. Morale is lower than ever and I don’t know anyone who isn’t trying to leave. Also you get insulting raises and no bonuses. Senior management are dismissive of any problems, if you try to explain a problem to a VP or higher they look bored and tell you to fix it yourself and complain you aren’t a team player or patronize you. Very cliquey and there is a lot of office politics, if you have a bad team or manager then you will always struggle and work very long weeks (50+ hours) no matter what. If you have a VP that likes you then you will be promoted no matter what. The whole company has a lot of turnover which should tell you everything.
