Dear Anonymous - I always chuckle when i see the "free beer" comment. This must be surprising for some, but actually it's no big deal, and handled so responsibly by staff; just one of our many free beverage perks. What is cool is actually working on hedge funds and doing important work for our premier global hedge fund clients. The experience is great for grads and seasoned professionals alike. While we do see natural attrition at our junior levels, a lot of our "smartie's" stay around, get promoted and improve their technical and client relationship management skills. Thanks for your input.

Pros

> Casual dress code > Routine work > Ability to meet a good bunch of people (at least used to) >FS's can become SFA's in about 3 yrs

Cons

> Very slow career progression (3 yrs to become senior fund accountant) > Company culture values productivity over everything else, ZERO care for employee satisfaction > With new system improvements, and ability to move jobs to Asia, they really don't care about Toronto staff in the next few years company will shrink > An attitude of lying and making you chase promotions for years is common practice

Dear Colleague - We appreciate you taking time to write a review - but want to take this opportunity to clarify some information around your impressions. Actually a more accurate average timeframe for promotion of a Fund Accountant to an SFA in the Toronto office is 2 - 2.5 years. Of course sometimes the cycle can take longer depending on the level of experience and progress of an employee. It is also quite typical for that office to have a robust number of promotions at mid year and year end. This year end there were over 70 promotions! Additionally the Toronto office is seeing lots of new funds coming in, and has many job openings as a result; as a strategic center for Citco this office is continuing to grow with new business. Employees are encouraged to discuss their concerns with HR or senior management to ensure they are getting the most accurate information about the firm.
