Technology:
First and foremost, the technology at the bank is the worst in the industry. Day one they will issue you a laptop that is very old and doesn’t work well. However even though you have the laptop you won’t have the appropriate access to any relevant systems for a minimum of 2-3 week (if lucky). It took me 3 months to receive the full system accesses required. In some cases the computers are not setup properly so you must to go to another campus to get computer fixed. However you aren’t expected to miss work so you must use your own PTO to fix the computer that the bank issued you.
Management
I could not tell you why the direct managers were promoted to their role. Additionally it seems that there may be too many managers doing the work of one person which creates overlap in some areas, no coverage in others, and lots of inconsistency and confusion. The direct managers are not helpful for training new teammates due to very inconsistent messaging, very little on the job training, and taking micromanagement to an extreme level. Probably the strangest thing I witnessed is that they will have conference calls about your teammates performance in an open environment for everyone to hear which is highly inappropriate and makes everyone very self conscious.
Position
Your assigned branch partners will not help as much as they are supposed to and management expects you to support those partners as much as possible. The flip side is that your partners aren’t held to any accountability to support you so you will be measured by their shortcomings. Because of this much of your time will be spent coaching these partners and figuring out how to work with them instead of helping clients and closing business. When you do work with clients, you will split your time between checking boxes/selling widgets, managing the relationships that you have inherited or built comes in a very distant second place.
