Pros

Clarivate Analytics is not a bad company. The company is experiencing some transitional pains as it sheds the old TR and transitions into standalone businesses.

Cons

The organization is top heavy with management. Many of the TR mentalities, brotherhood and poor choices carried over into Clarivate’s management. By way of example, individuals report to a low level manager, who then reports to a mid-level manager, who then reports to a VP and ultimately to the CEO. Team members feel disconnected from the business and are often times subject to information not making it to the right party. This leads to Clarivate as only a mediocre company then it could be a great company. Internal operations such as legal are inundated with archaic processes that hurt the business on every conceivable level. Inside of the organization, the atmosphere is sophomoric. As individuals fight for their relevance, there is backstabbing, gossip, secrecy, and blatant lies on every level. Managers often intimidate employees and bully employees verbally with their jobs, PIP plans or pressure to do more than they can do. All of this is done by phone and out of earshot of human resources to create a he said she said situations. Clarivate is a lean company and their employees are stretched just as thin. Then again, that type of management leads back to the TR mentality and carry over by Clarivate of the management team. The organization is also very loose lipped. External people have internal knowledge about Clarivate’s business dealings. Sensitive information, while not publicly available travels quickly. The salary can be generous. The benefits package is expensive and adequate. 401K contributions were slashed. Too much emphasis is focused on training that is not conducive to career development. Opportunities for advancement are few and far between, unless you are part of the drinking the Clarivate juice and aligning yourself with the right individuals. Many good employees are leaving in droves because of the practices of management, the tumultuous environment and the distrust of leadership.
