1. It can feel like there is a fear of change and innovation. Because the schools are high performing, trying new approaches is seen as risky or unnecessary by portions of staff and leadership.
2. There is also a lot of room for improvement in regards to making the schools more supportive of students social and emotional needs. This does not get nearly enough attention despite research demonstrating that social and emotional wellbeing is critical for student achievement and development.
3. There is also a huge need for making the schools more culturally responsive and engaging with the community as partners.
4. Network leadership is not reflective of the students the network serves. The network talent team is making concerted efforts to hire more staff of color. However, there also needs to be supports put in place so staff of color feels supported and encouraged to grow into leadership roles.
