Pros

Your experience at Clover is highly manager dependent. Some managers are highly supportive and stick by their folks, and some aren't. Some teams have high engineering standards, and others don't. The teams that do have a good working culture and engineering rigor tend to maintain their teams and deliver high-quality work. Work-life balance is pretty great.

Cons

Compensation isn't competitive for the good engineers. Senior management refuses to address this problem, and they get what they pay for. Fiserv does not understand Clover and their purchase of Clover has been a net negative. Clover does it best to maintain an independent culture, but whenever Fiserv gets involved, things go south quickly. Engineering quality at Clover is pretty high; engineering quality at Fiserv is embarrassingly bad.

Pros

Good product, still going due to solid foundation. Good people.

Cons

Terrible leadership. Clover the tech company no longer exists…because Fiserv wants it that way. Fiserv has no idea how to run a tech company and are happy to squeeze all the profit out of Clover without any intention of moving the company forward. Valid business plan but is horrible for employees and long term. Spyware watching what you type, what apps you use, how long you are inactive, etc. Badge in/out to check your hours in the office, even though you are on call and work remotely, night and/or weekends. Time sheet tracking 4 days in the office for collaboration, even if no one on your team is in your office. Also, some people are being required to commute 2 hours, even though they were approved to work remotely. No attempt at employee retention Benefits have been cut every year FirstData culture has squashed Fiserv’s original culture

Pros

- Some good people and leaders left the company. - Lunch provided.

Cons

- The management at Fiserv (parent company) is stifling innovation and hindering product growth. - Senior management expects us to drive tech growth, but they appear to lack the expertise to effectively manage a tech company. Our most significant management-led initiative last year was simply a price increase. - As we become more corporate, we paradoxically become more disorganized. There is no clear long-term growth vision, and our primary focus revolves around extracting more value from our customers while reducing costs. - 4 days in office, but prefers to hire in cheaper, non-Sunnyvale locations. ICs on the same teams are all over the country as a result
