Pros

If you land in the right team, with the right manager it can be the best place to work. Pay is good, used to be amazing but still higher than most places. They have some good deals and incentives for employees.

Cons

If you become a manager your work life balance is thrown out of the window, there is so much unpaid overtime. Due to the price of the stock at normal price, it isn’t much better with the 10% discount

Thank you for your review and your feedback. Our frontline store colleagues received a 10% pay increase in April of this year and the colleague member discount is currently 30% off. Please do speak to your manager about your work patterns, nobody should be working unpaid shifts or overtime.

Pros

It's a successful business, it knows what it's doing. I've worked across five different stores, with two different store managers, and it was 50/50. One manager was amazing and he's what you want in a manager - business intelligence and employee care, the other was just business intelligence, little employee care. If you're considering the Cambridge area, the Cherry Hinton stores are good work and the staff are nice. The staff discount recently got enhanced. They added an additional 10% discount. Where it used to be 20% off co-op products and 10% off everything else, it is now 30% off co-op and 20% off everything else.

Cons

The MIll Road stores have great staff but it feels run down. The chilled units are always breaking down, we've had to waste hundreds in food, and the manager expects you to do the work of three with the limited time you get and the vast amount of work to do. Especially, if you're going into bakery, be careful. I was told that everyone on the team would learn bakery, after six months, it still remained just two people with any kind of bakery knowledge. If you're ever ill, for whatever reason, expect the manager to make you pump out more bakery products than are even in the freezer.

Thank you for your feedback. We're glad to hear you're satisfied with your job and the benefits offered, we agree, 30% off is a huge enhancement. We appreciate your comments regarding different store experiences, and suggest that you talk to your manager about your concerns over workload. It doesn't seem right to us that the distribution of tasks are not shared fairly and as you've noted, that isn't how most of the stores you've worked in have operated.
