Pros

- Discount within store - Some staff

Cons

- Hires staff that are incapable of completing basic tasks - All staff are basically a box ticking exercise - Some lower level staff seem like they’re in charge and undermine the Team Leader on shift - Too much pressure and not enough reward or acknowledge - Unprofessional when it comes to following company policies, I.e absence. - Long work hours without legal break entitlement - Constantly short staffed - Tense atmosphere within store - Favouritism is in full force - Lack of support from higher ups - Poor work/life balance - Puts you on lowest possible contract but expects you to work in excess of 45 hours per week, fails to increase contract when requested for several months - No consequences for regular shoplifters

Pros

Opportunity to help those in need Some really lovely people who genuinely want the best for everyone Good initiatives and training opportunities for those who want it Lots of opportunity to go to new places Plenty of overtime if you’re happy to cover shifts

Cons

Lack of guaranteed hours - contracted 16 but did always work way over that. But it’s a lack of security. Rumours and the bullying: Management did deal with this well initially but then ended up having a really hard time as the bullying got worse because I’d spoken up Someone ended up being let go due to camera footage etc of them being horrible I was blamed and bullying and rumours got worse Manager was needed elsewhere and in his absence I was given a formal verbal warning. I don’t even really know what for other than “being the cause of rumours” … wild rumours and accusations that were about me… that I didn’t know anything about until I was told in the meeting… Apparently it was my fault because I’d made myself a target for it!!!!! On my last day I left two members of staff that I didn’t work with often took me into a small room, closed the door, and took it upon themselves to give me a taking to and take me down a peg which was horrible. It was all based entirely on things that they’d overhead or been “told” by others. Essentially you can work your butt off at coop, but if your face doesn’t fit or others think you’re showing them up by working hard and trying your best - it’s hell. None of your hard work and trying to help others will save you from the bullying and no one will say thank you if you help them out - even when you leave. Not even a good bye or a good luck. Although the person tho gave my “warning” did seem to care about my reason for leaving “you’re not leaving because of that are you”… Wonder why? Addition - Rumours and bad talk even continue after you leave!
