Logic don't live here

Pros

The pay and benefits and pay are unmatched.

Cons

I've been a top performer at the company for years. My issue isn't that the metrics are unattainable; it's that they don't make sense for the research role. The role is branded as research consultant but actually operates like a call center. The workload isn't difficult in terms of skill or complexity, just the expectations are unrealistic. There simply isn't enough time do the research that producing meaningful quality data actually requires. You end up spending your days trying to stretch conversations and hit arbitrary targets rather than producing genuinely useful insight. The nonsensical metrics, and ignored feedback leaves you feeling drained. And even embarrassed when talking to clients because the tools and process don't support the expertise the role is supposed to represent.

A toxic bait and switch

Pros

Above average compensation and great benefits

Cons

It is hard to adequately describe the level of disfunctional behavior and toxicity that emanate from this company. I would advise anyone considering employment with CoStar Group to pause and think very carefully about what you are walking into. The reviews are accurate and I would pay close attention. You were likely flattered by a high salary, a fancy office tour and an opportunity to be part of something different. What was sold to me as creative content writing more or less morphed into a call center position with very little creativity and lots of stress and a heavy focus on metrics that do not make sense. Writers are hampered with strict production quotas with very little room for error and conflicting guidelines across departments that make the job much more difficult than it needs to be. Management was nothing short of abysmal and there was very little trust. CoStar has a history of hiring large classes of recruits only to lay them off several months later. This job ruined my health and I would avoid this company like the plague. The money simply isn't worth the stress and perpetual disrespect.
