WFH:
Company began "requesting" that people come back to the office in April of 2022. There were co-workers who were uneasy about this (especially since this coincided with the rise of the delta variant) but felt required to come into the office despite these concerns. CoStar will never support WFH, since they are determined to persist the notion that office space is a necessity. The CEO made a comment during an all-hands, citing the fact that kindergarten and elementary school students were struggling with remote learning and concluded that this is proof that adult professionals are unable to collaborate and deliver virtually – I found this a little insulting.
Working at Costar:
- Limited opportunities for advancement for my role
- Pretty intense culture with a high workload. I was very stressed throughout my time at Costar, and didn’t realize how important a positive, balanced culture was until I began my new job.
- Company was unable to set and follow through with priorities, which seemed to shift on a whim.
- On the 2021 Q1 earnings call, the CEO complained about “competing with the government for employees” (referring to additional covid benefits). Seems like a $32B company could afford to pay people enough where this wouldn’t be an issue
