Pros

The researchers are all great, really friendly hard working bunch of people. Flexible working hours are good. Holiday entitlement improves the longer you are with the company.

Cons

Where to start! This company is not what it once was. Everything that was once good about the place has gone. This is a call centre you will spend the majority of your time scratching around looking for calls to make just so you can hit a number and keep yourself out of the firing line. The focus should be on the quality of the data that you are entering onto the database as that is after all what the clients are paying for, if it is verified then it really shouldn't matter if it comes via email or website. The targets are beyond ridiculous causing extreme stress and demotivated staff. No one in the office wants to be there, in fact I don't know anyone that isn't looking for new employment. Just when you think things can't get any worse they move the goal posts again and make things even harder. Bonus! Forget it not worth your time or stress, you will have to work out with your core working hours to get it and even then it will be pennies. The atmosphere in the office is toxic you can literally feel the tension when you walk through the front door. They may as well have a revolving door as the amount of leavers has got to be at an all time high. There is no respect for senior management anymore the office is run on nothing more than fear. The only thing keeping this place afloat just now is the team managers and they dont get any credit for their hard work either. As someone has said previously, if you are considering joining costar my advice would be the same as their's, DONT!

Pros

The people- young work environment, perfect for someone just our of college or in their 20s. I made some of my best friends at the Star. Intro to CRE- The research training is extensive and is essentially an overview of all building types and different roles in the industry. You will learn a great deal especially if you're passionate about real estate. Great Product- I started in research and transitioned to sales (LoopNet) and the sales training was phenomenal. There is not one situation or objection that they don't prepare you for, great sales job especially since the product has no real competitors; LoopNet can almost sell itself. Potential to make good money (in sales): If you work hard and get close to goal you can make at least $65K a year, not bad for a job right out of college. Top guys in inside sales were making over $100k.

Cons

Management in Research is hit or miss High turnover- not many people stuck around for more than a year. Not much room for growth in research Job can be monotonous and was very dependent on hitting unrealistic metrics. Pay isn't great in research and managers pick favorites for bonuses.

Pros

CoStar is a great place to work. I enjoy the challenges that require thought and decisiveness. With the rapid expansion there has been many opportunities to grow within the company. We completed two complete company integrations in 2015 alone. Working for the leader in the industry has definite advantages! I have confidence that senior leadership will continue it's string of success in building the strongest data information company in the commercial real estate space.

Cons

CoStar is growing and evolving. This evolution brings great career opportunities for those that strive to grow.
