Pros

Your onsite team will make it or break it! I was lucky enough to work with an amazing onsite team who made my job fun. If you genuinely care about the residents at your property, you may enjoy the environment.

Cons

The corporate teams that dictate everything with only a birds eye view of the property can and will make you miserable. The regional position is impossible to keep filled, so we went every year having a new person in charge who knew nothing about anything. It eventually made the job impossible and caused almost everyone to quit. A lot of the corporate team is cliquey and gossipy and will openly show favoritism. Compensation was not competitive and if you have an investor owned property, you will not be approved for the company standard pay or raises.

Pros

“Nothing comes to mind, and I’ve been with the company for over a year.”

Cons

Maintenance is consistently undervalued and underpaid. While there’s talk of a potential 10% raise, it’s tied to a so-called “training” program that—according to the fine print—is entirely up to the company’s discretion. That means you could spend a significant amount of time completing extensive training, only for them to deny the raise anyway. What’s the point in investing that time when there’s no guarantee of reward? I’ve personally requested a raise multiple times without receiving a clear answer, yet when something is expected of me, I’m expected to deliver immediately and perfectly. Maintenance Supervisors are treated no better. They’re paid poorly, offered no real incentives, and while the company claims to offer bonuses, they’re tied to “goals” that are nearly impossible to meet—especially depending on the condition or size of the property. These unrealistic expectations are designed to keep supervisors from ever seeing those bonuses. Despite all this, maintenance teams are the ones keeping properties operational and presentable—critical work that directly impacts whether a property can even be leased. At the end of the day, the only real way to get ahead in this company seems to be by playing politics or kissing up to the right people—not by working hard or showing results.

Thank you for taking the time to share such detailed and candid feedback. We want to start by acknowledging your frustrations and the seriousness of the concerns you’ve raised. Your voice, and the voice of every team member, is incredibly important to us. We hear you: maintenance teams are vital to the success of our communities. The safety, functionality, and overall resident experience at each property depends on the skill, dedication, and hard work of our maintenance professionals. We agree that this work must be properly valued in multiple ways including compensation incentives, verbal affirmations, and day-to-day support. Additionally, we appreciate your perspective on how site teams are often excluded from broader company culture initiatives due to workload. That disconnect is something we're always trying to overcome to ensure everyone feels part of our culture, regardless of their role or location. Thank you for sharing these concerns, as well as for the work you do every day to keep our communities running,
