Pros

I love working here and doubt I could find work as fulfilling and interesting in this field. Also, my coworkers are my friends and we respect and support each other.

Cons

Coffman fosters a culture of workaholics. It is hard to create a healthy work life ballance working at coffman. They start junior engineers off down this path early on. This is due to small amounts of vacation time and overtime being given back to the employee in the form of straight time (not time and a half). Hours worked extra = hours able to be taken off. Couple that with only a small amount of vacation time given to employees with under 15 years af Coffman, and you get workaholics. I'm sure it is far, far worse at other companies though.

I am glad you enjoy working here and have found rewarding projects to work on. Obviously not too stoked about the workaholic cultural reference. Really sorry to hear that is your experience/perception. We do sincerely desire people to achieve a sustainable work/life balance. We continually evaluate our PTO program to make sure it is competitive in the market place. The fact that we pay our exempt employees for every hour worked (straight time for overtime) is fairly unique in the industry. If we can bill an hour. You should get paid an hour. That just seems right. Let us help you with the work/life balance. Thanks for the comment - Dave Ruff, CEO

Pros

I loved working in the office I worked at, the people are great to work with! The GM understood family and it made it easy to take time off for family things. Also, the benefits are better then most companies and you never go hungry because they always feed you!

Cons

Lots of expectations to handle 10 things at once, it wouldn't be such a bad thing if compensation leveled it out but compensation wasn't great.

Pros

-Interesting projects. -Aside from some of the upper management, the rest of the staff was awesome. -My experience at this company made me realize how good I had it at my previous firm, grateful I was able to go back.

Cons

-Minimum budgets for projects means I either worked for free or worked on overhead which ultimately reduces my billable rate. In my case, overhead was "lab training." -I voiced concerns multiple times about project management on specific projects, but it fell on deaf ears; profit before the employees. Too big to fail mentality...

I am so sorry to hear that your experience was not a positive one. We are attempting to continuously improve our transparency, project management, and leadership. We certainly don't have the attitude that we are too big to fail. At the same time, we have the benefit of not walking a razor's edge where everyone lives in fear. Coffman Engineers is not perfect, but we are always improving. I wish you every success in your future endeavors. Dave Ruff - President
