Pros

They’ll pay you on time

Cons

To many to name. The regional director is awful. Office is disgusting. My life got worse working here. I became fat and depressed. Not a high performing sales team. Actually one of the lowest performing sales team. No team bonding, no team building events. Your success means nothing to the company. Deals will be taken from you with no hesitation. No one has any authority. You are a pawn, and you’ll know it. I’ve never been treated so poorly in my life. I’d rather be unemployed and broke. No opportunities of advancement. I don’t think anyone cares about the company. It’s truly one of the worst jobs I’ve ever held in my life. Being a bus boy felt more meaningful. I truly gained nothing from doing this job besides that people could be so dumb and be sheep like and work that job because he’s paying you. They spread the money so think you think your making money but your probably earning less than you think. There is no training, no advancement in its field. It will lose to competition constantly. I think garbage men do better.

Pros

Cogent has solid network assets and some highly capable engineers and technicians who work hard to keep the infrastructure running. Many people on the technical side genuinely care about the stability and performance of the network.

Cons

After joining through the Sprint merger, it quickly became clear that the organization lacked the technical leadership necessary to manage and operate a large-scale fiber network effectively. Many operational decisions were made without sufficient technical input or understanding of the fundamentals of fiber transport and carrier-grade infrastructure. The integration between the legacy Sprint environment and Cogent operations appeared rushed and poorly coordinated. Processes were frequently created on the fly, and teams were asked to implement changes without proper planning or technical review. This led to repeated operational challenges and inefficiencies. Leadership communication also reflected a lack of professional management standards. On multiple company-wide calls, senior leaders—including vice presidents—used excessive profanity while addressing staff. Instead of inspiring confidence or direction, these interactions often highlighted a lack of leadership discipline and professionalism. Morale across teams appeared very low, and many employees were actively looking for opportunities elsewhere. The environment felt reactive and disorganized, making it difficult for technical teams to perform effectively.
