Pros

Large company that leverages their diversity status (Indian owned). Internal IT support is average. Their grasp on the English language is a 3 out of 10.

Cons

This company is a body shop that is not deep within any technology they claim on their website. They have zero pro-active recruitment methods and literally wait until they receive an order and jump on Monster, Dice etc. Their recruitment engine is completely off shore with high turnover. They have no ability to technically screen within any technology. They operate out of Bangalore, Pune and Baroda India in terms of delivery which is absolutely horrible. Their model is to throw thousands of non-screened/qualified resumes at clients and eventually something will stick. The recruiters are compensated for submitting resumes so you can imagine what kind of quality that drives. Waste your time building relationships and bringing in business and they will quickly crush any credibility or value you sell to your clients. They are 10 years behind in terms of their proprietary CRM, processes, and recruitment methodologies. If they are unable to fill a position they expect the client to provide sample resumes HA! So what value do they add besides being a billing mechanism that offers absolutely zero value to their clients. JUST move on and don't invest your valuable time on this Indian body shop!

Pros

Have good client base. People "seem" to be professional

Cons

They start your process by saying "there is no bond or agreement". But your offer letter has got so many terms and conditions : 1. You cannot leave company withing 18 - 24 months of employment else you pay penalty. In US there is nothing like a bond but you know people do not want to go to court. 2. You have to give them 4 weeks notice or more else you pay penalty. In US the normal notice period is 1-2 weeks !!! 3. You pay will be 60K or around that which is going to be stuck at same level for more than a year. 4. Medical benefits are awful ! This is almost equivalent to Bonded Labour : " A person becomes a bonded labourer when their labour is demanded as a means of repayment for a loan. The person is then tricked or trapped into working for very little or no pay. The value of their work becomes invariably greater than the original sum of money borrowed." You know a consultant in New York with 8+ years of experience can get offer of 100K after employers cut. Imagine you being placed there and stuck at 60K or so. So avoid them even if they do not charge Sponsorship fee. Not sure why DOL (Department of Labour) has not taken any action seeing their offer letter/appointment letter.

Pros

The culture is fun and young which can be appealing to many people, especially recent college graduates. However, don't be fooled with how fun it looks to work there.

Cons

The company in general has no real structure. You start out as a recruiter but call it Associate Account Manager so it seems as though it's a different position. You have to attain ridiculous metrics in order to be promoted into a position that is not even similar to the previous one. Doesn't promotion mean you get a higher ranking in the current or similar position? Anyways, it doesn't matter how hard working or deserving you are because if you do not hit these ridiculous numbers then you can't "move up". Also, there is no control over these metrics which is why hard working people may never attain that promotion. The management only cares about making money for your team and doesn’t care what measures you take to get there. If you start slipping then they put you on a performance plan and fire you (usually after 1 month). They overwork the employees and even try to control your personal life. The hardest part about this job is that you have the future and professional lives of people in your hands. Meaning, you are helping people find jobs and join amazing companies that Collabera staffs for. Since management does not care about those people then they make the Account Managers responsible for ruining these lives. A perfect example is when management pushes you talk to the hiring managers at the companies and then find candidates for the open positions. They make you get the candidate all lined up to start on a certain day, accept a pay rate and sometimes even quit their previous jobs for the entire the thing to not even go through. This means people are left without jobs and it is horrible to know that you are responsible for that. The company is sometimes not even set up with the companies that they staff for me, meaning that if you do line up a candidate, then you cannot proceed with hiring them. This happened to me and it was then on me to tell the candidate that they not only can’t get the job but that they had to quit their previous role and then are left jobless. I recommend that you do not work here. This company needs to have a better structure and become a respectable company like other recruiting firms out there. It is not a professional environment and they do not value the employees. The salaries are not worth it and the commission checks take so long to come in. Once I left, I was never given all my commission checks and lucked out in a lot of money. If you are looking to get a placement through Collabera – I recommend that you go somewhere else. They do not actually care about placing you in a job and just care about making money off of you.
