Pros

Absolutely no pros working at this place unless you like being micromanaged by people who are supposed to have empathy being that they have their clinical counseling degrees but have absolutely none. If you like monotonous work where you are on the phone all day repeating the same things over and over again, this is the place for you.

Cons

If you have any issues with the management team (e.g. their micromanagement among other things), don't think that complaining or meeting with the HR team will do anything for you. There is absolutely zero care for any of the employees that isn't in a higher position. The amount of favoritism in this place is disgusting; if you are not one of the select few that they management team likes, forget about trying to get any help from them without being condescended towards when they "help" you with questions or concerns. If you want any vacation time off, good luck getting it approved unless you're six months out from the event. Also forget about paid vacation time while you're at it because anytime you're sick they take out hours of your vacation time; and that's ONLY if you have earned said sick or vacation time via 1/2 day earned with each pay check. That's right, if you are somehow never sick or just love talking to 30+ people on the phone a day when you're sick and miserable, you will earn 1 day of PTO a month as that is the only way you will be paid for anytime you take off.

Pros

Great work-life balance Office location - off Michigan Ave, tons of restaurants, shopping and public transportation nearby Senior management tends to be made up of driven, intelligent, inspiring people. They earned their positions. The nature of the business gives you the warm fuzzies - we're helping people at a challenging point in their lives. Free bagels on Fridays

Cons

Terribly expensive benefits, especially for families. The health insurance is with the same provider as my previous employer and the coverage is comparable, yet I pay more than twice as much for it. I feel mislead. If I had known how expensive it was, I would have asked for more during salary negotiations to offset the cost. 401(k) matching is a complete joke. STD is not included. Even full time, salaried employees are required to clock in and out each day. These people are incredibly meeting-happy. So many meetings. Training, or lack thereof, is a serious issue. My experience has been very learn-as-you-go.

Pros

Downtown location, Monday-Friday 8:30am-5pm, accessible by public transit.

Cons

I came to this job under the pretense of working as FMLA claims specialist, interviewed for that particular position, the whole nine. Upon starting new hire training, we were told that we would "shadow" the FMLA customer service representatives that work on the call center side. Initially I didn't think too much of it because it is a good idea to understand that portion of the job to be able to effectively perform the claims portion of the job. Imagine my surprise when the next day in training we were shown slides of Customer Service Call Training and told that we would be taking calls until we "stabilize" to move to the training that we were actually hired for--Claims. I was livid because the management had not been transparent in the interview as well as the job posting that I answered.
