Pros

Paid every 14 days Market Average PTO Very challenging to get fired or reprimanded

Cons

Work-life balance is non-existent in most roles - 55 hours a week is fairly common at middle management levels Major Brain Drain - most of the staff that knew anything in IT left the organization. Mostly for other healthcare organizations Pay is roughly 20% below most non-profit healthcare entities. Legacy DH positions it is even worse Medical coverage is mediocre. The average cost of a family of 4 on PPO (non-HSA) is roughly 500/month Bonuses are not consistent between the legacy organizations. (CHI no bonus, DH bonus) Leadership is incompetent but well-intentioned (Think Michael Scott from the Office) Google Workspace is the default productivity suite Projects and project planning are completely disorganized. Senior Leadership changes directions weekly which causes chaos at the individual contributor level. The organization is massive and heavily outsourced with very little oversight. Tech stack is circa 2013 rather than 2021 (Limited Cloud-Based applications) The majority of working hours is spent on conference calls with very few set agendas.

Pros

People in the same boat that have been with the company for years. We are working from home until 2021

Cons

Those working in IT and Digital know, every day is misery. Pressure and stress. Fake job opportunities that names/people have been slotted for. Want to advance? You won't here. Co-worker with over 5 years experience in a certain area trying to break into Management only for someone with ZERO experience and a couple years as a manager with minimal employees somehow gets the job??? Such an insult! Especially after having to watch CIO claim they are trying to help careers. Dignity Health and Catholic Health merged to create this new company. There is a ton of turmoil. Co workers at one company gets bonuses the other does not. Different emails. If you are getting hired make sure it is under Dignity.

Greedy Non-Profit?

Business Outlook

Pros

Ever updated facilities with ever more amenities make physical surroundings nice enough. (Of course, the amenities are for the patients and I have heard are intended to attract "a better quality of patient," to price out the poor and needy who cost the non-profit organization more than they are willing to part with.)

Cons

Despite its non-profit status it acts like a for-profit organization, but rather than turning over profits to shareholders the administrators take home the spoils. Not only is too much is spent on non-medical administration, but this same administration is given too much power over policy, and the greedy motives result in poor morale among the employees who are actually delivering the healthcare. They are left overworked, underpaid, and worst of all, many are also feeling disrespected. Turnover is high, as I believe is true throughout the healthcare industry.
