There is definitely a façade that exists within most of the departments but as well as the company. Even during my stint at CFN, there were so many tenured individuals who left (for various reasons) for better opportunities or none at all. Many were exhausted from the lack of career progression or just completely drained by their workload. Whatever the reason is, there is no support in making sure individuals are cared for. This also is true for HR. One in particular is the most callous and inconsiderate individual I have had the dissatisfaction of meeting. Being in HR, I would assume that they would show some empathy to individuals but that is not the case. Her title should be changed from HR to Corporate Protection. Might as well give her a "Hall Monitor" sash and a whistle to make her feel important.
Additionally, management is not qualified to be in the positions they are in and do not have the leadership skills to help out employees. Any advice or feedback to improve processes was routinely shut down or taken as the "it is what it is" approach. Some managers in compliance should not even have a job. They don't know how to mitigate risk and create uniformity within their department. We were bombarded with so many different answers I felt like I was selecting an entree on a Cheesecake Factory menu. It all sounded feasible but nothing was cohesive nor did it really make sense.
Manager discretion is key in getting what you want. Nepotism runs rampant so schmoozing up to the right person will get you somewhere. I've never heard of being grandfathered into a specific situation when you're a new hire. Sounds like being Instagram friends and liking all of their posts grants an exception. Those who actually worked at CFN for years have weaseled their way to management and have now disrupted the "culture" of what I've always heard.
