Cons

Going through a leadership change, but with a smart strong transition plan.

Pros

The leadership team makes a conscious effort for transparency and cross-functional communication. Everyone is working to create an environment where employees of all levels are able to work together on our initiatives and to give open and honest opinions. I really value that effort, having started at the "lowest" administrative position. Additionally, we are becoming more collaborative across the national office and across the national network. I started working at CIS nearly 2 years ago and since then have noticed a big improvement in our collaboration and communication. Having worked in a public school system and in other non-profits, all with slightly disfunctional leadership teams, I can honestly say that CIS is incredibly well-run and refreshingly transparent. I think that I am getting a bit "spoiled" by working here in that, one day if and when I decide to transition out, I will have very high expectations on organizational management, work-life-balance and benefits -- each of which CIS has set the bar very high. Because the bar should be high!

Cons

Employees tend to bake a lot at home and bring in the delicious leftovers. Good thing we get a discounted gym membership at Sport and Health :) No but seriously, there are only minor, trivial "cons" to working here. Back to my point about feeling spoiled for having the chance to work with leaders from whom I learn from and respect -- and who care about my feedback and opinions.
