Thank you for your positive feedback and your many years of service to CTG! It’s not often you hear of employees working at the same employer for over 26 years, but we are very proud of the length of tenure many of our employees have, especially within our corporate team. We have several employees who have been with us for 40 years! You mentioned your management team, and we agree that our managers are one of the key factors that make CTG a Great Place to Work. In our recent survey, employees were asked what special or unique thing makes CTG a Great Place to Work. The most common answers included caring managers, collaborative co-workers, and our familial culture. Thank you for being a part of our team for so many years and helping us make CTG a Great Place to Work!

Pros

It’s okay nothing amazing. It’s a job

Cons

Poor management. Rarely gives raises in general, but also does not take into consideration cost of living raises. Also tells employees not to discuss wages (certain states like mine, have protection for employees that they are able to ask). Because we are protected in my state and can discuss wages outside of work/not on working time: we have found they are paying others who just started working there the same or higher wages than those who have been there many years and progressed in their roles/careers. They have benefits but pay a lot for medical and it’s out of state catastrophic benefits so really only helps you if you hit your high deductible or have surgery etc. No retirement 401k match

A company past its prime

Pros

CEO is based in Belgium and is a good leader that genuinely cares about his people and is trying to bring European values like work life balance to the company. It can feel like a family here as the teams are small. They have been a pioneer in remote work and are offering hybrid and remote schedules even more now.

Cons

CTG is an old school company that is struggling to appear as innovative as other IT companies. They have a very unimaginative and reactive approach to product development and Human Resources, and can’t seem to figure out who they want to be. Their benefits and compensation plans are fairly basic compared to similar firms. Their overall HR mentality is very much stuck in their ribbon cutting era. Most staff do not receive regular raises and their starting PTO is your standard two weeks with a painfully slow accrual rate and a low capped amount even after more tenure. You have to “buy” extra vacation and they sell this to employees as a benefit. They do not offer 401K matching and by all indications will not in the foreseeable future. There’s a lot of nepotism since most of the leaders have been with the company for many years. When you work here you will see the same people promoted over and over while most are stuck in the same position for years. And there is absolutely no diversity in their overhead staff. They use “inclusion” as a buzzword but there are few if any BIPOC people in management and zero in senior leadership. Being a fixture in the Buffalo community I expected to see a statement on their social about the tragedy that happened not too far from their HQ, but radio silence. Similar silence on Pride month, and other cultural holidays with the exception of a few generic inclusion posts. The sad reality is that few POC and LGTBQ people are able to achieve meaningful progress in their careers here. I believe their European operations are a bit better at this. And there’s no employee engagement for teams outside of the HQ. Best Place to Work? They may have the badge but not the practices to support this distinction. Hopefully new HR leadership will bring them into 2022.

We appreciate the time you took to provide such thoughtful feedback. We believe that our CEO and leadership team's commitment to practices that strengthen our culture and contribute to achieving Great Place to Work certification year after year perpetuates the family-based culture you experienced. As a GPTW company, we are committed to continuously seeking and reviewing the input of our employees across the organization from many sources to ensure we receive the most accurate representation –GPTW surveys, internal surveys, Glassdoor reviews, exit and new hire surveys, and more. Employee insight is critical in CTG's innovation and growth as an employer and provider of leading digital IT services and solutions. It, therefore, is of the highest importance to our HR and leadership teams. Our HR teams use the insight gained from employee feedback to develop programs that support our people-focused culture and enact programs in our employees' best interest. We strategically choose program initiatives and invest in those that benefit our employees while balancing our financial responsibility to our shareholders. For example, we know that the cost of benefits for our employees is of the utmost importance, so our leadership team made financial decisions that allowed CTG to reduce employee benefit costs significantly three years in a row – 2020, 2021, and 2022. At CTG, our first core value is respect. That core value is applied in many ways, not the least in addressing the areas of diversity and equal opportunity. We are sorry that you found this an area to be lacking. We have found, as recently as our most recent GPTW survey, that most of our employees disagree. Statements related to fair and equitable treatment of employees regardless of race, sexual orientation, gender, and age received the highest ratings. Finally, you noted a few instances where you felt we remained silent. We were neither silent nor unengaged in either instance. In May of 2022, we chose to keep our communication and donation efforts focused where we felt that they were most needed and appropriate – internally, on our employees and in our headquarters community. We also kicked off our annual Pride month recognizations across our global social media channels on June 1. We encourage you to visit any of our social media channels this month. In summary, 'CTG's Core Values and culture are built upon respect, support, and open, two-way communication. We are sorry that you have had a different experience. Your CTG HR and leadership team would welcome the opportunity to talk through these or any other issues you have.

Pros

- many of your coworkers are great people and very nice - pay is decent - remote work

Cons

- abysmal transparency with clients including directly lying to / misleading them - painfully obvious that people in positions within the company absolutely do not belong in their current positions but management can't/won't do anything about it - extreme disparity in work among teammates - you'll work 6 months on a project and produce literally nothing of value - do not work here if you have other options

Career Killer

Pros

A temporary job with a paycheck with Decent benefits, although they provide no match to the 401k.

Cons

Passive Aggressive management team with complete lack of direction and integrity. CTG claims to provide solutions to almost everything but is essentially a staffing company that has to use third parties to deliver a significant amount of what they offer. In addition, they hire individuals to utilize their previous references and claim them as their own. Zero integrity as an employer or a vendor. Stay away unless you are a temporary contractor. Find other options if you are a prospective customer.

We appreciate your response, and agree that our managers are friendly! From day one, managers establish meaningful connections with their employees through frequent conversations and check in’s. This feeling of connection is seen in the results of our recent Great Place to Work survey, where 86% of respondents felt that when you join the company, you are made to feel welcome. We encourage you to draw on that connection to management to address your salary concerns. There are a number of factors to consider when determining salary, with years of experience being one of them. Any concerns with compensation should be discussed with your manager.

Pros

The management has as much enthusiasm for their job as you do for yours, and therefore will pay very little attention to your mistakes.

Cons

Very little room for advancement; they'd much rather just fire you and get a new worker. Company has not adapted at all to current work-from-home standards; servers were constantly down, very few people were on call at the night shift for major problems. Poor communication meant that we would field endless amounts of calls about a single problem, as we did not actually inform clients of any issues.

We appreciate the time you took to send feedback. We respectfully disagree with statements listed in the cons category. Our philosophy is to promote from within and provide opportunity for advancement whenever possible. We encourage cross training so that employees can support one another and experience mobility with their career. In addition, we fully embrace and implement work from home standards whenever project circumstances allow; many of our employees enjoy working on a fully remote or hybrid basis. In terms of communication, open and transparent communication are key components of our core values. Our leadership team models this behavior and expects the same of all employees. We wish you the best of luck in the future.

Thank you for taking the time to submit your feedback. We’re disheartened that your experience was inconsistent with ones we typically hear of from employees. We feel our senior leadership has set a strong vision for CTG’s business strategy and openly shares that vision during town hall calls and other frequent company-wide communications. Our managers play an integral role in reinforcing this vision as they continually strengthen the bond between their employees and CTG. Our managers are connected to their teams and regularly assess the market to ensure fair and competitive compensation. Employees with concerns about their compensation or questions about the company’s vision are encouraged to reach out to their manager, Human Resources, or any member of the management team. We wish you the best of luck in the future.
