Pros

*Integrated healthcare practice *depending on dept and location Decent work life balance. Salaries are fair, depending on discipline and department

Cons

Salaries and raises not based on employee performance but solely on discipline and years in discipline Travel RNs are paid extremely well, including bonuses, when the rest of us are not getting salary increases Increasing work responsibilities w/out increased pay or PTO compensation Lack of career/leadership opportunities if you are not a RN, NP or MD MDs, NPs and other providers don’t pay for cafeteria food, but everyone else, including the lowest paid employees are required to pay for their meals Limited integrated care practice, many providers still work in silos and it’s a leadership failure Too many RN, NP and MDs are uninterested in what other departments do even if that knowledge would improve patient care Leadership does not seem to understand employees’ actual work-flow and how it affects patient care and their decisions for the system reflect that lack of knowledge

No micro-management

Pros

I was mostly free from typical office workplace politics and allowed to work from home during the pandemic. I liked the patients I worked with. Pay is decent and good benefits. Closest thing I ever experienced to private practice like environment within an agency setting. Monthly consults with other therapists.

Cons

No flexibility around schedule and caseload. Expected to see 8 patients per day, but half day fridays (only 4 scheduled). Extremely large number of referrals over 100 patients. That is way too high for a therapist to take on leading to burnout. No extra time again except for Fridays to complete documentation.

Pros

Fair compensation Great co-workers Mostly evidence-based with just culture practices

Cons

Management does not always support the staff against patient mistreatment which is frustrating. Also, the facility makes a big deal about listening to staff input but reality does not quite line up.
