First and foremost, we’d like to acknowledge and express our gratitude to the employees of the TIDC for their dedication and support during this difficult period. The work you are doing is very critical to combating the COVID-19 crisis that our country is enduring. It is because of you that Connection is able to provide essential business services and products to hospitals, manufacturers of laboratory testing protocols and government agencies on the front lines of battling the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, we are providing products and services necessary for remote educational services enablement and remote connectivity to keep businesses solvent.
At Connection, the health and safety of our employees is job one. In addition to listening to the federal and state governments where we have a physical presence, we are closely monitoring the guidance provided by the CDC and state/local public health officials. All parties have a vested interest in reducing the transmission of COVID-19, continuing healthy business operations, supporting the health in the communities where we live and maintaining a healthy work environment. Employees who have the ability to conduct their essential job functions remotely have been encouraged to remain at home. Given the nature of some essential job functions, remote work is not feasible for some employees. This does impact a large number of employees that work at the TIDC. There are several measures that are in place to ensure that the work environment remains safe and mitigates the risk of employees contracting the virus at all of our facilities. Some measures exercised include: temperature testing prior to entering the facility; comprehensive deep cleaning of frequently touched surfaces in the workplace such as lunchrooms, restrooms, countertops, light switches and doorknobs; placement of disinfectants, cleaning solution and paper towels in common areas so that high-touch surfaces such as keyboards, remote controls, phones, workstations, machinery and desks can be wiped down by employees prior to use; frequent communications about social distancing, respiratory etiquette and hand hygiene are shared in multiple forums such as employee meetings, posters, emails and our intranet platform; and encouraging employees who are sick to remain at home. Whether in-person or on the phone, trust that our Human Resources practitioners are available to address any employee concerns on a myriad of topics such as providing sick and FMLA leave options, reviewing medical and employee assistance program benefits, clarifying policies and practices. If your matter is pressing and onsite HR assistance is not readily available, you are encouraged to contact the Benefits triage line or send an email to HR Questions. Know that we care about your well-being and your colleagues. In the meantime, please take measures to care for your family, friends and neighbors, as well.
