Where dreams go to die

Pros

For the most part, the majority of people are great and passionate. Solid sales training and a good stepping-stone job.

Cons

After the first couple months post ramping period when goals are lofty and the gimmicky perks become apparent, the glint and sheen of this job wears away. Good luck ever taking vacation. They give you plenty of days off on paper, but good luck convincing management "that it's a good time to take a day off." Hyper focused on metrics and call stats, so even when you exceed goals, they'll micromanage you until you lose every ounce of motivation and passion. Mid to upper management constantly pressure you to stay late and come in on Saturdays through petty guilt tactics. If you enjoy terrible micromanagement, 120+ calls a day, and dreading everyday of work, then this is the sales job for you.

Pros

Good work environment with great benefits. Can be laid back, depending on which department you work for. Used to be very good with allowing employees to attend conferences to learn new skills. Free soda and beer on Fridays. Fun environment at times.

Cons

A lot of talented employees have either left or let go. Current upper management are not the brightest people but they are very clever at protecting their inner circle. Sadly, their initiative is not to improve the company but rather self preservation and their huge salaries. The company relies too much on false metrics and short term results. Sustainability will be an issue.

Pros

- free beer - easy to shine, many weak colleagues

Cons

- very unproductive work environment in software development - lots of employees with no motivation - weak technical leadership. New technologies are brought in and bolted on in a disorganized manner. - VERY slow to get anything done here. If you like cranking out code and seeing your stuff work, then this isn't the job for you. What used to take you 1 month will take 6 here.
