Pros

Everyone at Consumers raves about the company. Seems that most employees come in at a young age and never have any desire to leave. Large enough company that you can pursue whatever you want, many locations across the state to choose from. Management has very clear idea of where the company is and has very detailed ideas on where they want to go. Management is now willing to admit past mistakes and is working hard to correct them. Great opportunities for young people looking to start a career. Much of workforce is nearing retirement age, so there will be many opportunities for advancement in the near future. Great job security as well...unlikely a utility is going to need to pink slip people. If you went to a great university, you should have a lot of opportunity..most of the engineers are from Michigan Tech, MSU, directional state schools, etc. Have a big name on your degree and you'll have a wow factor, management will put great effort into developing you as an employee, you should shoot right up the ladder.

Cons

Transitioning to a new business system was very unpopular within the company, but it seems that transition went better than at other companies. Dealing with unions, etc. can be very bureaucratic. Not much effort to deal with incompetent employees.
