Cook Children’s may have a good reputation for being compassionate with their patients, but they treat their employees like dirt. Communication between departments and management is a mess. There were so many things only a select few knew and the rest of us were reprimanded for doing things wrong despite never receiving the correct information in the first place. If you’re a satellite location, it’s even worse. Your facility is just another business opportunity for them. They do not care about off-campus employees at all, to the point of not even knowing what any of us even did and what type of care was given at our facility. You don’t get any paid holidays. Instead, you have one PTO pool (no sick time) that you’re forced to use for holidays, and if you don’t have enough PTO, you just have to go unpaid. You get punished if you call in or leave early, NO MATTER THE CIRCUMSTANCES. I saw people sick as a dog working with children (who are more susceptible to getting sick, mind you) just because they were afraid of being penalized with the punishing and stupid occurrence system Cook Children’s implemented. Even if it’s an emergency (like a death in the family) and you have to leave early, you will be penalized. That’s absolutely heartless and cruel. The pay is also terrible. They pay you under market rate because they can get away with it. This is a very toxic and plastic environment. All the positive nonsense they feed you at orientation is just propaganda. I wouldn’t be surprised if half the positive reviews on here were just paid reviews to keep themselves out of hot water. Do yourself a favor and work somewhere where you’re not just another cog in the machine.
