Pros

I’ve been with Cook Systems for the past 90 days, and I can honestly say it’s been a great experience. The company culture is incredibly collaborative and supportive. From day one, I’ve been trusted with hands-on work that’s helped me grow my skills in software development, a field I might not have broken into without their FastTrack training program. They give you the time for self-development which is a huge plus. The work environment is another standout. I work from home, and as long as my work is done, there’s no micromanaging about my online time. Work-life balance doesn’t get much better than that. My manager is super approachable, and our monthly check-ins make me feel valued and supported. They also have a childcare savings plan which lets me pay for my daughter’s preschool tax-free.

Cons

If I had to pick something, I’d say the benefits package could use a boost. It’s not the strongest compared to other companies (we rely on my wife’s work for most benefits), and the pay could be more competitive. That said, I totally get it, they invest a lot in training people like me, and I’m grateful for that opportunity for my first job as a developer. And hopefully it will improve as I build time in the company.

Pros

I enrolled in their fast track system which I believe was a 12 week course (could have been 8?) where I was trained not only in software development (Java, JavaScript, onion architecture) but also on job interviews, resume building, and tenets to help be a standout employee. No large sum for the boot camp that has to be paid upfront like other companies have. Great communication with leadership as well.

Cons

If you finish the boot camp and placed at a company you are basically definitely going to be a contract employee and that was not what I was wanting. That is ultimately what lead me to move to a different company after Cook helped me get my foot in the door.
